Mood with Movement: A Weekly Women’s Exercise Class in Coventry
Empower Her Mood with Movement Project recognises that movement is more than exercise, it is a powerful tool for confidence, connection and mental health. For women navigating hormonal changes, mood fluctuations, sleep disruption, weight changes, and reduced confidence, the right kind of physical activity can be transformative.
That idea is now a weekly session. Every Friday evening at Jubilee Crescent Community Centre in Coventry, women meet for an exercise class that comes with culturally informed women’s health education. It is open to all women, and you do not need to be fit, sporty or experienced to walk through the door.
Why movement matters for women’s health
Reproductive health is rarely just physical. Conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids, along with the shifts that come with perimenopause and menopause, affect sleep, mood, energy and the way a woman feels in her own body. Many of the women we work with describe the same pattern: symptoms make movement harder, and less movement makes the symptoms harder to live with.
Gentle, regular, supported activity interrupts that cycle. It is not about weight loss targets or personal bests. It is about reclaiming a sense of strength and steadiness, and doing it alongside other women who understand what you are managing.
What happens in a session
Each Friday session pairs movement with information. The exercise is led at a pace that suits the room, with options to take things gently. Around it sits health education that is culturally informed, which matters: too much women’s health advice is written for someone else’s body, someone else’s diet and someone else’s family.
The atmosphere is the other half of the programme. Push limits. Break barriers. Become stronger. Those are the words on our flyer, and they describe a room where women encourage each other rather than compete.

How to join
You do not need to book. Turn up on a Friday and someone will meet you at the door. If you would like to ask something first, or you are not sure whether the session is right for you, email info@specialladyawarenessglobal.org.uk or use our contact page.
Movement is not a cure. It is a way back to feeling like yourself, and it works better with company. We would like you to have both.
